Three student-athletes from the Minnesota football program on offense were recognized by the coaches and media of the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday.
Running back Rodney Smith and receiver Tyler Johnson were both named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by the coaches and media, while offensive lineman Donnell Green was tabbed All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by the media.
Smith rushed 229 times this season for 977 yards. He also added 17 receptions for 107 yards and returned 14 kicks for 363 yards, which included a 100-yard touchdown against Nebraska. His 1,447 all-purpose yards led the team and rank 16th in single-season school history. Through three seasons he ranks sixth in school history with 2,805 rushing yards
Johnson emerged as a playmaker this year and led the Gophers with 35 catches for 677 yards and seven touchdowns. Johnson missed the two final games of the season, but his 677 yards still rank fifth all-time for a Gopher sophomore, while his seven touchdowns rank second for a sophomore in school history.
Greene started 11 of 12 games this year and was a consistent blocker on the Gopher line. He helped pave the way for Minnesota to rush for 2,189 yards and 20 touchdowns.
