Gophers Compete at UST Showcase

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Gopher women's track & field team combined for 16 career-best performances, including several Gophers competing unattached, at the UST Showcase hosted by the University of St. Thomas Friday night.
Three Gophers claimed event titles while running unattached in Maddie Gourley (400m, 58.29), Lindsey Greenlund (800m, 2:15.72), and Megan Hasz (3,000m, 9:32.82).
Leading the attached Gophers were Emily Castanias and Allie Heifort with runner-up finishes in their respective events. Castanias ran a PR of 3:02.80 in the 1,000m run for second place overall, and Heifort threw 16.83m (57-11.25) as the weight throw runner-up.
Including unattached runners taking the top two places in Greenlund and Jenna Conzemius (2:18.74), Minnesota claimed the top five places with five career-best times in the 800-meter run. Liz Miller finished third in 2:19.06 followed by Rachel Wians (2:19.46) and Kelsey Sather (2:20.09).
Allie Dugan and Maddy Kammer earned top-six finishes in the 400-meter dash while Haley Rasmussen led the attached Gophers with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Courtney Alama led Minnesota with a sixth-place showing in the mile as well.
The Gophers are competing at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., in addition to the UST Showcase this weekend. Both the ISU Classic and Music City Challenge continue on Saturday.
