Van Rooyen Gets First Pro Win

Former University of Minnesota golf captain Erik Van Rooyen won the Sunshine Tour's Eye of Africa PGA Championship on Sunday. He won a playoff to earn his first victory on the tour.
Van Rooyen concluded his Gophers career in 2013. He was the Big Ten runner-up as a senior and had two other top-10 finishes at the conference meet. Van Rooyen played in three NCAA Regionals.
The three-time PING All-Region honoree earned his tour card the year he graduated. He has 14 top-10 finishes in his pro career.
