Gophers Bested by Missouri

Minneapolis, Minn. -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers began a three match weekend falling in a 4-1 loss to Missouri Friday afternoon.
Doubles
Doubles play opened with partners Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei dropping their match to the Tigers' Bea Santos and Cassidy Spearman, 6-2.
Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher fell at the No. 1 spot to Brianna Lashway and Clare Raley with 6-4, securing the doubles point for Missouri. At No. 3, Annemarie Emme and Camila Vargas Gomez did not finish their match, though the ending score was 6-5 in favor of Missouri.
Singles
Ryba opens up singles play falling to Lashway, 6-2, 6-3, giving Missouri a two-point advantage.
Vargas Gomez quickly closes the gap, defeating Raley, 6-4, 6-2, and giving the Gophers their first point of the day.
At the No. 4 spot, Emme fell to Missouri's Tate Schroeder, 6-4, 6-2.
After a first set win, Safdar dropped to Amina Ismail to clinch the win for the Tigers, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Barbara Mancera and Tina Kreinis both had split matches before the match was called. Mancera was 4-6, 7-6 (1) playing Cassidy Spearman, while Kreinis was at 6-7(6), 6-3 against Bea Santos.
