Gophers Tally Two Victories in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis - The Minnesota Golden Gophers had another two-win day, downing Marquette this morning, 6-1, and Milwaukee this evening, 7-0.
The Maroon and Gold began the first match clinching the doubles point after Annemarie Emme and Camila Vargas Gomez won at spot No. 3, 6-3.
Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher fell at spot No. 1 to Paula Tormos Sanchez and Siliva Ambrosio, 6-2. Following this match, Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei took a victory, 6-4, as well as the point.
Singles play against Marquette was opened with Vargas Gomez quickly dominating at spot No. 6, 6-3, 6-1.
Barbara Mancera came back from a first set deficit to tally another win, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3, giving the Gophers a 3-point lead. Maja Vujic clinched the entire match for Minnesota at spot No. 5, downing Marquette's Isabella Franks.
The rest of the match was played out, resulting in Tina Kreinis overpowering Tormos Sanchez for a match tie-break, 2-6, 7-6 (5). Ryba continue her win streak in the morning, winning after three, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Emme was unable to overcome Fleur Eggink of the Golden Eagles, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6, giving them their only point of the match.
The match against the Panthers began with Emme and Vargas Gomez once again grabbing a speedy win, 6-0.
Safdar and Merzbacher split their matches for the day, overcoming their first lost to beat Alysa Straub and Labina Petrovska, 6-3, clinching the doubles point. Ryba and Frei played out their match also downing their opponents 6-3.
Singles play began with Milwaukee's Petrovska forfeiting to Kreinis, 6-1, 2-1 ret., at spot No. 1. Frei followed suit at spot No. 6, topping Nicole Clark, 6-1, 6-2.
Merzbacher dominated her match, 6-1, 6-2, at spot No. 5, and clinched the match win for the Gophers. Playing out the rest of the games, Vujic moved up to spot No. 3, and obtained the third 6-1, 6-2, win in a row.
Mancera was once again victorious, 6-1, 7-6 (2), this time at spot No. 2. Safdar finished the match strong, edging out Berta Masdevall-Masip, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (5).
