In honor of Black History Month, Gopher Athletics is celebrating those who made us great. Throughout February, GopherSports.com will share short interviews with African-American alumni from almost every Gopher program. In these interviews, former student-athletes reflect on their time at the U of M, provide advice to current Gophers and share what Black History Month means to them personally.

What is it you miss most about the University?
I miss my teammates, friends and competing. As a student-athlete, we spent a lot of time working to be successful both in our sport and academically, and the U provided a great environment to do that.
If you could give the current student-athletes any piece of advice, what would it be?
Invest the time developing relationships. I have lifelong friends that I met in college, who have been there for me through thick and thin. Beyond those friendships, many doors may be opened with those key relationships.
Please share your favorite university or athletic event you've attended since you graduated and what made it so special to you?
Attending my husband's (Keita Cline) induction into the University of Minnesota Athletics Hall of Fame. It was so rewarding to attend a ceremony where they recognized his many achievements and contributions to the U!
What are you grateful for?
My Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, my family and friends! I was so blessed to attend the U of M as a student-athlete, with great coaches, administration and support while I was there.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Recognition of a tremendous history of our people, who endured so much, overcame so much, yet succeeded despite it all. There are so many people in our history who paved the way and inspired many of us to drive for higher heights.
What occupies your time now?
Being a mother, wife, coach and my career. While doing those things, I still find time to workout and strive for a healthy lifestyle.
