All teams will be paired up with another competing team. The Gophers will be partnered with Michigan State while facing Coastal Carolina, Oklahoma, Middle Tennessee, Virginia, Texas A&M, Missouri, Notre Dame, South Florida, South Carolina, and host Florida State.
Live scoring throughout the tournament is available through the link above.
Gophersports.com sat down with head coach Michele Redman to preview the tournament and the spring season.
What expectations do you have for this tournament?
MR: I don't look at this as what scores I want to see - what I want to see is progress. That's what I've been seeing in practice, that's what I'm most excited about because I know we're going to have a good spring. We've worked a lot on the mental side of the game and we've done a lot of team building. If everyone is making progress and is getting better, then the results will come with that.
What things did the team work on over the winter in preparation for spring?
MR: We had a team meeting once a week, we've done some individual meetings as well. We've done some mental training in Minneapolis and we just went to Florida to do that as well. All three of those things have made a big difference. Even when you're doing the mental training and everyone is doing it together, it still incorporates the team building aspect of it.
How did the team benefit from the trip to Florida last month?
MR: We sharpened our mental skills a little bit more. The great part is that the team is all in on what we're working on with them mentally. We got a lot done, and it was nice for us to get outside. It was great.
What are your expectations for the team this spring?
MR: Just to keep improving and keep progressing. As a team in my opinion, we've been through a lot in the last year and a half, and it's nice to see them get together and get along well, and want to play well for each other. If all of those things match up, then the results will come.
Have you seen anyone who has stood out or improved from fall to spring season now?
MR: Actually, I think they all have. I'm pretty excited to watch them play. I like the energy that I'm seeing this spring as opposed to the fall. They're ready to go. They've worked on the things that we needed to work on. And I think the team building aspect and the things we've worked on mentally are really going to pay off for us.
