Gophers Defeat Lobos in Final Set

Albuquerque, N.M. - The University of Minnesota picked up their ninth win of the season Sunday as they defeated New Mexico 4-3.
Doubles
Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher started off the day with a 6-3 doubles victory over Rachana Bhat and Dominique from the No. 1 spot.
The next match to finish was Annemarie Emme and Camila Vargas Gomez falling to Ruth Copas and Cassie Chung 6-4 in the No. 3 spot.
The Gophers ended up falling in doubles when Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei fell 7-5 to Emily Oliver and Diana Wong in the No. 2 spot.
Singles
Minnesota fell down 2-0 when Barbara Mancera was defeated by Dominique Dulski 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Ryba picked up the first Gopher point with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ludivine Burguiere from the No. 1 spot.
The Maroon and Gold were on the brink of defeat when the Lobos went up 3-1 when Diana Wong defeated Maja Vujic 6-4, 6-2. The rally back started with a Tina Kreinis 6-4, 6-2 win over Ruth Copas in the No. 2 spot.
Next Vargas Gomez defeated Rachana Bhat 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot to tie it 3-3. Emme clinched a victory for the Maroon and Gold when she won 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 over Cassie Chung in the No. 3 spot.
