Three individual Golden Gophers and two relays competed on the second day of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis.
Minnesota's 200 freestyle relay of Bowe Becker, Paul Fair, Tuomas Pokkinen and Daryl Turner placed 18th in 1:18.09 as the second alternate for tonight's consolation final.
Matt Barnard placed 19th on the 1-meter diving board. His score of 316.75 gave him Minnesota's best individual finish of the day.
Turner, Conner McHugh, Fair and Becker were 20th in the 400 medley relay in 3:08.40. Turner set a personal record, ranking second in program history, with a leadoff 46.82 100 backstroke time.
Becker finished 30th in the 50 free with a time of 19.52 in the prelims. Jakub Maly was 36th in 200 individual medley prelims in 1:45.68.
Friday's prelims start at 9 a.m. CT. Events on the Day 3 schedule are the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter and 200 medley relay.
