The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will continue tradition this weekend at its 22nd-straight NCAA Regional appearance. The Golden Gophers will face No. 2 LSU, No. 11 Boise State, No. 14 Nebraska, No. 25 Arizona and Iowa State at the NCAA Lincoln Regional. In addition, two all-arounders and eight event specialists, all from Air Force, will compete as individuals at the meet. Competition is set for Saturday, April 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Six NCAA Regionals will be underway across the country this weekend with 36 teams hoping to qualify for 12 spots at the 2017 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships from April 14-15 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo. Additional host sites for this weekend's meets include: Washington, Illinois, Arkansas, West Virginia and Florida.

WHAT IT TAKES
The top two teams from each regional will advance. Additionally, the top two all-around competitors (from non-advancing teams) and event title winners (if they are not a part of an advancing team, or and all-around qualifier) from each regional will also qualify for the championships as an individual competitor.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
• The LSU Tigers are the No. 2 overall seed in the nation, with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 197.865. LSU won the SEC Conference title with a 198.075, and swept gold in individual events. Senior Ashleigh Gnat leads the Tigers, along with an additional six regular season All-Americans on the team.
• No. 11 Boise State is coming off their third-straight Mountain Gymnastics Conference Championships title after scoring a 197.050. Senior Diana Mejia was named a regular season second-team All-American on uneven bars to lead the Broncos. This is the highest seeding in school history for Boise State, and the Broncos have never advanced to the nationals as a team, having narrowly missed out in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2016.
• Host Nebraska is ranked No. 14 in the nation, the second highest among Big Ten Conference programs. The team boasts a 196.725 RQS. Taylor Houchin was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and leads the program as an all-around competitor. This will be the third meeting between the Cornhuskers and Golden Gophers in 2017.
• Arizona made the Lincoln Regional with a 195.880 RQS. The Wildcats finished third at the Pac-12 Championships behind Stanford and California. At the meet, Arizona matched their season high score with a 196.275 and hit 24 for 24 routines.
• Iowa State has a RQS of 195.750. Last season, Iowa State did not qualify for NCAA Regionals, breaking a 20-year streak. The Cyclones finished fourth at the Big 12 Championships behind No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 7 Denver and No. 22 West Virginia.

GOLDEN GOPHER POSTSEASON HISTORY
Minnesota has qualified for NCAA Regionals the past 22 years, during that time the Gophers have advanced four times as a team, and 10 times with individuals. Last year, Minnesota advanced as a team and finished 12th. The program's highest finish was seventh in 1982, and has finished in the top ten three times.

LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota finished eighth at the B1G Championships with a score of 195.175. Ciara Gardner, Hannah Hitchcock and Paige Williams were named to the All-Championships Team for their efforts, and Williams earned a share of bronze on vault. The team score also secured a NCAA Regionals spot for the Gophers.

TRIO NAMED TO ALL-B1G TEAMS
Three Gophers were named to the 2017 All-Big Ten Teams. For the second-straight year, senior Bailie Holst was named to the First Team. Senior Bailey Abernathy and junior Ciara Gardner were each named to the Second Team.

HALF AND HALF
With the spring semester addition of Mary Korlin-Downs, the Gophers' roster is now composed of nine newcomers and nine returners. With such a young team, Minnesota's lineups have seen a big shift. Freshmen Julia Huebert, Ivy Lu, Kristen Quaglia and Paige Williams have each seen action this season.

ROTATION SCHEDULE
With six rotations, Minnesota will compete in the following order: floor, vault, bye, bars, beam, bye.
