March 8, 2017 Minneapolis, Minn. - University of Minnesota programs are heading into the postseason ranked while others are reaching new heights in their program history.
Women's Hockey - #5
Last Week: The No. 2 seed Golden Gopher women's hockey team battled No. 3 seed Minnesota Duluth in the longest WCHA Final Face-Off game in league history but ultimately fell 2-1 in double overtime in front of 2,533 fans in the semifinal round at Ridder Arena Saturday evening.
This Week: Minnesota continues its quest for a third-straight NCAA national championship in the NCAA quarterfinal round this weekend. The Gophers travel to Duluth, Minn., for a rematch of last weekend's WCHA Final Face-Off semifinal with Minnesota Duluth. Game time is set for 2:37 p.m. CT Saturday at UMD's AMSOIL Arena.
Men's Hockey - #5
Last Week: Tyler Sheehy's three-point night carried the No. 5 Gopher Hockey program to a 4-1 win over Michigan on Saturday night, clinching a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament and reclaiming sole possession of first place with two games to play.
This Week: The Maroon & Gold close out the regular season with a two-game series against Michigan State next weekend at Mariucci Arena.
Men's Gymnastics - #5
Last Week: The University of Minnesota placed second with a score of 413.300 at the 2017 Arnold Challenge against Ohio State (415.250) and Ukraine's National Team (398.400) on Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.
This Week: Minnesota will return to the Sports Pavilion for a two-meet homestand after four weeks away. The Gophers are set to host Iowa and the Arizona State club team on Saturday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.
Softball - #7
Last Week: The University of Minnesota Gophers overcame a rain delay, sloppy conditions and a 3-2 deficit going into the sixth inning to win 7-3 over Illinois State Sunday afternoon.
This Week: Minnesota will head to Washington next week for the start of their spring break trip.
Wrestling - #13
Last Week: For the 20th time in the past 21 years, Minnesota finished among the top five in the nation's toughest conference tournament after taking fifth at the Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Ind., on Sunday with 93 points.
This Week: With the Big Ten tournament now complete, there is just one event left on Minnesota's 2016-17 schedule, the 2017 NCAA Championships. The three-day event that often defines seasons for the nation's top collegiate wrestlers will begin on Thursday, March 16 and run through Saturday, March 18.

Last Week: On the second day of NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at Missouri, five Gophers added events to their NCAA Championships schedule. One qualified for his first event of the national meet, while four who had already qualified added a second event.
This Week: The Zone D meet will conclude Wednesday with men's platform at 11 a.m. and women's platform at 4:05 p.m. Coverage will be available on Watch ESPN and DiveMeets.
