Maja Vujic Clinches Win on Senior Day

Minneapolis, Minn. - Senior captain Maja Vujic clinched the win over Indiana, 5-2, on senior day Sunday afternoon at Baseline Tennis Center.
The Gophers are now 13-10 overall and 5-3 in Big Ten conference play, including their win over Purdue this past Friday.
"What a wonderful way to send Maja Vujic out with a Senior Day victory!" Head coach Chuck Merzbacher said. "It was an important win for this team as we progress towards the Big Ten tournament. I am proud of this group and of course, very proud of our senior captain, Maja!"
Doubles
Tina Kreinis and Annemarie Emme began the match quickly downing Paula Gutierrez and Natalie Whalen at the No. 2 spot, claiming the lone Gophers' doubles win, 6-4.
Mehvish Safdar and Cailtyn Merzbacher fell to Madison Appel and Kim Schmider, 6-4, followed by Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei falling to Caitlin Bernard and Pauline Jahren, 7-5, capturing the doubles point for Indiana.
Singles
Merzbacher defeated Alicia Robinson at spot 6, 6-0, 6-1, giving the Gophers their first point of the day. This is Merzbacher's second Big Ten win and her fifth win in dual singles play.
Kreinis continued in her winning ways, downing Paula Gutierrez, 6-2, 6-1, giving her a three-match win streak and six conference wins.
Emme fell to Indiana's Natalie Whalen at the 4 spot, 6-4, 6-4, tying the match at two points for each team.
Camila Vargas Gomez grabbed her thirteenth dual play victory over Schmider, 6-3, 6-3, from spot No. 5.
Senior captian Maja Vujic tallied the victory clinching win on senior day, 7-6 (3), 6-1. She currently has three conference wins and nine in dual play overall.
Ryba finished out the match with one last victory over Appel, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. She is on a four game win streak with 13 dual wins overall.
