Gophers Win Eight Titles at Holst Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's track & field team won eight event titles while competing locally at the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia St. Paul on Saturday. The Gophers' attached competitors won two titles while unattached Gophers picked up another six event titles at Seafoam Stadium.
Caitlin Dillon won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a career-best 11:17.90, and Anne Haakenstad won the 800-meter run in a career-best 2:13.75 to lead the Gophers. Haakenstad's time also set new meet and facility records.
Unattached Gophers Titania Markland (400m, 53.79), Megan Hasz (1,500m, career-best 4:30.88), Meleah Biermaier (400m hurdles, 1:02.98), Ryan Crotty (javelin, 40.85m, 134-00), and Ashley Ramacher (high jump, 1.73m, 5-08.00) also won their respective events. Markland and Ramacher set meet and facility records as well.
Minnesota's unattached 4x400-meter relay team of Biermaier, Val Larson, Maddie Gourley, and Markland also won in a new meet and facility record of 3:52.10.
Fourteen Gophers ran the 1,500m run, led by M. Hasz. Bethany Hasz finished as runner-up in 4:31.73, also racing unattached. The top attached Gopher was Molly Eastman in a career-best 4:40.92 for fifth place.
Behind Dillon, Megan Flanagan came in third in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:30.24), and Danielle Anderson made her first appearance of the season with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 18:24.50. Allie Heifort posted a runner-up finish in the shot put (12.59m, 41-03.75), and Natalie Manders took third in the discus (43.10m, 141-05).
The Gophers also competed at the Kansas Relays Saturday where the Maroon & Gold won 10 event titles to edge host Kansas for the team title in the quadrangular meet, 195.5 to 181.5. Southern Illinois (155.5) and California (128.5) rounded out the team standings.
