GopherSports.com asked swimmers and divers to show and tell us about their early days in their sport.

I started swimming because my older sisters had swum before me. My parents wanted us to learn how to dance, play the piano and swim when we were young. I continued dancing and swimming through middle school and high school. I began swimming at the local YMCA and we were known as the Tigersharks. I was introduced to USA swimming when I was about 14 years old. The same year I ended up making my Olympic Trials cut in the 100 breast at the U. I can still remember the team cheering me on after a long meet and long after everyone had left, because I made it in a time trial. I didn't know much of them at the time but it was an unforgettable experience. That was probably the moment that I knew I wanted to be a Golden Gopher. - Lindsey Horejsi
