The Golden Gopher men's golf team held its annual banquet at Southview Country Club on Friday night. Minnesota recapped its 2016-17 season and handed out awards.
Justin Doeden received the Tom Lehman Low Scoring Average Award. Heading into the NCAA Stanford Regional (May 15-17), he holds a 71.87 season scoring average. That number is the fourth-best on record in program history.
Louis Lick Hardest Worker honors went to Doeden, Matt Rachey and Riley Johnson. Doeden and Johnson each improved their stroke averages from last year, and the team could always rely on Rachey's dedication to every practice.
Campbell Fisher was voted the 2002 National Championship Team Teammate of the Year by his teammates. The honor was a testament to his thankful and unselfish attitude.
The Gophers' five seniors - William Leaf, Rachey, Jose Mendez, Doeden and captain Grady Meyer - all spoke and received "M" Club pins. First-time "M" letterwinners Fisher, Thomas Longbella and Alex Uloth received their jackets.
