Seven Gophers Set for USATF Championships

MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) -- Seven competitors with ties to the University of Minnesota will compete this weekend at the 2017 USATF Senior and Junior Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
Current Gopher Mitch Hechsel (800 meters) joins Maroon & Gold alums Harun Abda (800 meters), Ben Blankenship (1,500 meters), Travis Burkstrand (1,500 meters), Hassan Mead (5,000 meters and 10,000 meters) and Sean Donnelly (hammer throw) in the senior competition while Minnesota rookie Kieran McKeag (hammer throw) will be in the junior competition.
The 2017 USATF Outdoor Championships are returning to Sacramento, Calif., this Thursday through Sunday at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. The best track & field athletes in the country will compete to qualify for the IAAF World Championships to be held in London Aug. 4-13.
