Eleven University of Minnesota swimmers will compete at the Phillips 66 National Championships this week. The event serves as USA Swimming's selection meet for this year's World Championships, Junior World Championships and World University Games.
Competition begins Tuesday, June 27 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. USA Swimming and NBC Sports will provide live coverage. (See link above.)
Included on the Gophers' travel roster are three swimmers who already hold program long course records. Danielle Nack has Minnesota's top times in both butterfly races, and Brooke Zeiger has both individual medley records. On the men's side, Bowe Becker set Minnesota's 50-meter freestyle record last season. All three also hold at least one short course record each.
Lindsey Horejsi (100-yard breaststroke), Tevyn Waddell (100 backstroke) and Conner McHugh (both breaststroke races) hold Minnesota short course records.
Earlier in the spring, Sarah Bacon competed at USA Diving's World Championships Trials and placed fourth on the 3-meter springboard.
