Gophers Host #1 Notre Dame This Weekend in B1G Action

MINNEAPOLIS - After leading the conference in scoring over the weekend with four points, Gopher Hockey junior forward Brent Gates Jr. has been named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.

A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gates tallied three assists and a goal with two multi-point games as the Maroon & Gold picked up a Big Ten series sweep over Michigan State.

The junior notched a pair of assists for his first career multi-assist game in Thursday's 5-4 win in East Lansing before factoring into both of the Gophers' goals in a 2-1 on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. Playing in his 100th career game, Gates set up Casey Mittelstadt for the opening goal of the series finale before putting home the deciding goal in the final minutes of the contest.

The Anaheim Ducks prospect has 11 assists on the season - already a new career high - while his 19 points on the year are two shy of his career high.

The Gophers return home next weekend with a Big Ten series against No. 1 Notre Dame at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Single-game tickets, season tickets and flexible Pick-Your-Packs are currently available at GopherSports.com, by calling 1-800-U-Gopher or by stopping by the ticket office at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
