For the second week in a row the University of Minnesota Swimming and Diving teams have been recognized for their early season successes with three student athletes garnering weekly awards today.

Max McHugh received Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for the second time in as many weeks after winning four events against Florida State over the weekend. McHugh won the 100-yard breaststroke (54.12), 200-yard breaststroke (1:58.34), and was a part of the 200 IM (1:52.57) and 200 medley relay (1:27.63) that finished first against the Seminoles. McHugh posted the nation's sixth-fastest time of the year in the 100 breaststroke and his 200 breaststroke time earned him NCAA "B" qualifying times in both events.

Freshman Abbey Kilgallon earned her first career Freshman of the week award after finishing second in the 1,650 freestyle (17:00.57) and fifth in the 500 freestyle against Florida State on Saturday. The Bridgewater, N.J. native set the eighth-fastest time in the nation in the 1,650 freestyle against the Seminoles. Kilgallon won her first collegiate race in the 1,000-yard free against Wisconsin two weeks ago, touching in 10:12.56.

Mariam Khamis gained Big Ten Diver of the Week honors for her performances in the diving well this past Saturday. Khamis finished first in the 1-meter (283.73) and fourth in the 3-meter (295.35), with NCAA Zone Championship qualifying scores in both events. This is the first time that Khamis has won the award and the third time this season the Gophers have had a diver chosen for the weekly award.

The Gophers will be back in action this Saturday as they host Iowa and SDSU at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at 11:00 a.m. Minnesota welcome all Maroon & Gold fans to 'Pack the Pool' during this dual to be a part of a t-shirt give away, meet Goldy, and cheer on our Gophers.
