Paulson Named to National Wrestling HOF Class

Gopher wrestling alum Brandon Paulson was announced as part of the 2019 National Wrestling Hall of Fame Class on Monday afternoon.
Paulson wrestled for the Gophers from 1993-1998 and became an All-American in his final season with the Maroon & Gold while finishing seventh at the National Championships. Paulson was a three-time High School State Champion for Anoka High School and went on to win a silver medals in Greco-Roman at the 1996 Olympics and the 2001 World Championships. Paulson is a two-time USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Coach of the Year, was a part of the U.S. 2008 Olympic coaching staff and continues to coach with the Minnesota Storm.
Paulson is the fourth Minnesota connection to become a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, joining Wally Johnson (1985), Alan Rice (2001) and J Robinson (2005). The entire 2019 Hall of Fame Class includes Carl Adams, Rich Lorezo and Townsend Saunders as well as Meritorious Official David Errett, Order of Merit recipient Dr. David Curby and Medal of Courage recipient James McCloughan.
"The National Wrestling Hall of Fame is proud to honor these individuals in our Class of 2019," said Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. "These individuals were selected because of their extraordinary accomplishments in the sport of wrestling, and their induction into the Hall of Fame will serve as a perpetual reminder of their dedication and contributions to the sport."
The induction ceremony will take place in Stillwater, Okla. at the 43rd Annual Honors Weekend on May 31, 2019.
