MINNEAPOLIS – Entering week eight of the regular season, Minnesota soccer travels east to The Hoosier State where they will face off against Purdue on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. CT. The Gophers will then take on Indiana at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 7.
AN APPETITE FOR ASSISTS
With an assist against Maryland, April Bockin continues to climb the Gophers top-10 career assists list. Now with 24 career assists she ties Laurie Seidl for seventh all-time and is one assist away from tying Corinne Bolder and Erin Hussey for fifth all-time.
NOTHING ON NIELSEN
Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Nielsen recorded four-straight shutouts for the first time in her career keeping a clean sheet against Northwestern, Michigan State, Michigan and Maryland. Two of those four matches reached double overtime while she collected a total of 10 saves during the stretch. With the aid of the back line she had not given up a goal in 533:07 of play. Nielsen now has five shutouts on the season which ranks third in the Big Ten and 36th in the NCAA.
THREE IS A MAGIC NUMBER
There are six different Gophers who have recorded a goal and an assist to tally three points on the season. McKenna Buisman, TJ McKendrick, Celina Nummerdor, Patricia Ward, Maddie Castro and Emily Heslin have all done damage offensively. Among those six Buisman and Ward have netted game-winners for the Maroon and Gold.
BIG TEN TOURNAMENT
This past week the Big Ten conference announced that the tournament semifinal and championship games will return to Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. Nov. 2-4. The tournament is slated to begin Oct. 28 with the top four seeds of the eight team field hosting the quarterfinal games at campus sites.
SERIES HISTORY
