Becker and Kozelsky Garner Weekly Big Ten Honors

Minneapolis – Bowen Becker and Lindsey Kozelsky were named Swimmers of the Week by the Big Ten after helping the Gophers sweep rivals Iowa and South Dakota State on Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
Becker took first in the 50-free for the second consecutive meet over the weekend, hitting the wall in 19.81, a top-five time in the nation this season. Becker currently holds the second-fastest time in the event. The Las Vegas native then took second in the 100-free while posting a top-25 time in the nation, touching in 44.31. Becker additionally collected a pair of first-place relay finishes at the meet. The senior led the Gophers to a 3:15.01 finish in the 400 medley relay, the ninth-fastest time in the nation, and a 2:58.75 finish, the 16th-fastest time this season. This is Becker's first career Swimmer of the Week honor.
Lindsey Kozelsky was named the women's Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Tuesday after Minnesota defeated Iowa and South Dakota State, her first time gaining the honor. Kozelsky, a junior from Albert Lea, Minn. won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and was a part of the Minnesota 400 medley relay that finished first. Kozelsky won the 100-breast with an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 1:00.55, the fifth-fastest time in the nation this year. She later won her second individual event of the day in the 200-breast, touching in 2:14.00, the 17th-fastest time in college swimming this season. Kozlesky additionally swam the second leg of the medley relay, splitting 1:23.42, with the relay finishing in 3:41.41, the 12th-fastest time in the nation this season.
The Gophers have a short break before traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to participate in the ACC/B1G Swimming and Diving Challenge on Nov. 10 – 11.
