Women's Gym Spreads School Spirit

10/8/2018 10:38:00 AM | Gymnastics

For the second year in a row the University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team competed in a photo/video scavenger hunt for the homecoming football game.

Split into three teams, the Gophers took on challenges that brought them all over the tailgate lots and student section. The friendly and competitive challenge continues to be a great way for the team to spread school spirit and fire up fans for the upcoming women's gymnastics season while supporting other gopher athletic teams.

Teams:

Ninjas- Casey Betts, Rachel Cutler, Lexi Montgomery, Andrea Stancik, Ivy Lu and Tiarre Sales

Gold-Trotters- Abbie Nylin, Becca Taylor, Paige Williams, Lexy Ramler, Mary Korlin-Downs and Carson Cronin

Team Rah- Ali Sonier, Kristen Quaglia, Hannah Willmarth, Selena Ung, Ona Loper and Kaitlyn Higgins.

Challenges:

Rouser in one of the tailgate lots
Taste some tailgate food

Handstand at Gopher Garden

High five a band or cheer member:

Highlights:

Each team had their own unique moment and all found a way to get every challenge completed for at least partial points.

The Gold-Trotters found an Iowa fan and got him to promise to come to a Gopher women's gymnastics meet. We will make sure to have a Gopher shirt ready for him in January. Team Rah was the only team to obtain a real selfie with athletic director Mark Coyle. The Ninjas found themselves in the tunnel as the team ran out onto the field right before kickoff.

Champion:

The battle was close but our very calculated and mathematical system never fails. Taking an easy approach on selfies with Goldy the Gopher and athletic director Mark Coyle hurt the Gold-Trotters who finished third with 15 ½ points. Team Rah (16 points) had big time performance that included the only real selfie with Coyle but the Ninjas slightly edged them out (16 ½ points) by somehow managing to get into the pregame football tunnel to obtain a selfie with Goldy the Gopher and high-five football players right as they walked out from the ground level. That was a next level move!

Congrats to the Ninjas on the championship. We are already looking forward to next year's competition. Don't forget to call 612-624-8080 to secure your season tickets today!
