Gophers Set for 2018 Maroon and Gold Meet

The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team is set for its annual Maroon vs. Gold intrasquad meet, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Cooke Hall.
Lineup begins at 12 p.m. and competition will kick off at 1:30. Minnesota has nine newcomers on its team this season, and the Maroon and Gold meet will be the first opportunity to see them in action as well as some of last year's national champion runner-up members.
"The Maroon and Gold meet is our annual event to get a realistic view of where we are as the season rapidly approaches," head coach Mike Burns said. "We have selected the teams earlier in the fall and have been having various contests throughout the preseason preparation phase between the two teams.
The event will be free and open to the public, and will be the Gophers' first event on campus before the Alumni Meet returns to Maturi Pavilion on Jan. 5, 2019.
"While we've been two teams this fall, as soon as the Maroon and Gold meet is over, we'll be back to one team with one focus," Burns said.
