13 Gophers Selected to Compete at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge

GREENSBORO, N.C./ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten Conference announced the participants and broadcast coverage today for the ACC/Big Ten Swimming and Diving Challenge being held in West Lafayette, Ind. Nov, 10-11.
The Gophers will be well represented at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center at Purdue University during the meet. Minnesota swimming and diving will send collectively 13 athletes to participate at the inaugural event. Overall nine swimmers and four divers from the men's and women's teams will travel to compete alongside their big ten foes against the ACC.
The Gopher women will send seven to the meet including five swimmers and two divers. Lindsey Kozelsky, Rachel Munson, Chantal Nack, Mackenzie Padington and Tevyn Waddell will all represent the Maroon & Gold off of the blocks at the meet while Kristen Hayden and Xiao Fu will participate in the diving events. Hayden and Fu have started the year strong for Minnesota, already posting NCAA Zone qualifying scores at this point in the early season. Kozelsky will travel to the event after winning Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors having posted the fifth-fastest 100-breast time in the nation and finishing first in the 100 and 200-breast events.

Bowen Becker, Alan LeBlang, Max McHugh, Nick Saulnier, Matthew Thomas and Nick Yang were all selected to compete at the challenge. Becker holds the second-best time in the nation this year in the 50-free and is coming off of a week where he was honored with his first Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award. Max McHugh has twice been awarded Big Ten Freshman of the Week this season and currently holds two top-ten times in the nation in the 100 and 200-breast. Both LeBlang and Yang have had stellar starts to the season where both divers have qualified for NCAA Zones and with Yang winning his first Big Ten Diver of the Week award after sweeping the 1 and 3 meter against Wisconsin.
The Gophers Head Coach Kelly Kremer will serve as the Big Ten women's Assistant Coach for the meet.
Big Ten Network will provide coverage for the event. Saturday's coverage will begin at 5 p.m. ET on BTN2Go and Sunday's events will begin at 10 a.m. ET live on BTN.
