MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota senior guard Kenisha Bell was named to the Big Ten's Honor Roll for the first time this season and the fifth time in her career, it was announced Monday.

Bell averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game last week as No. 23 Minnesota won both games to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Minnesota doubled up Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 84-42, on Tuesday night. Four players scored in double figures for the Gophers with Bell leading the way with 24 points, the most by a Gopher this season and her second 20-point effort in the 2018-19 campaign. She was an efficient 8-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-8 at the free throw line. She also grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists.

In a 65-45 win over Cornell Saturday, Bell scored a game-high 18 points and was a rebound shy of her first double-double of the season. She was also 7-of-12 at the free throw line and has now made 360 free throws in her career, tying Laura Coenen for eighth in Minnesota history.

For the season, Bell is averaging a team-high 19.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She is also third on the squad with 6.0 rebounds per contest. Bell leads the Big Ten, and is fifth nationally, with 49 free throw attempts, ranks second in the league in free throws made (31) and is third in points per game and steals per game.

Bell's honor marks the second straight week that a Gopher has been named to the Big Ten's Honor Roll after junior forward Taiye Bello received the same recognition last week.
