Two University of Minnesota women's divers are set to compete at the 2018 USA Diving Winter Trials this coming weekend Dec. 20-21 in Atlanta, GA.

Sarah Bacon and Kristen Hayden will represent the Gophers in the 1-meter (both) and 3-meter (Hayden) events as they hope to earn a spot on the USA Diving team that travels to various competitions in 2019. The meet will have preliminaries starting at 10:00 a.m. ET and finals that begin at 4:00 p.m. ET on both days that Bacon and Hayden are to perform.

Bacon is the reigning NCAA 1-meter diving champion after winning a close battle against South Carolina's Julia Vincent to claim the top spot with a score of 343.50. She followed her national title with an eighth place finish in the 3-meter diving competition thanks to her score of 329.05. She was named Co-Diver of the Championships and recognized as an All-American in both events. At the Big Ten Championships last year she took first and second in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions respectively and earned a spot on the First Team All-Big Ten.

Hayden placed fourteenth with a score of 320.85 in the 3-meter diving competition at NCAA Championships in 2018. She also came away with an eleventh-place finish in platform diving after tallying a score of 259.55. For both of these efforts she was recognized as an honorable mention All-American. At Big Ten Championship she finished twelfth in the 1-meter dive with a 293.50, fifth in the 3-meter dive with a 353.85, and sixth in the platform dive with a 296.95, after scoring a 297.00 in prelims at the Big Ten Championships.
