STARTING FIVE
• The Gophers close out the non-conference schedule on Sunday as they host Mount St. Mary's.
• On Dec. 21 with the win over N.C. A&T, head coach Richard Pitino earned his 100th victory at the helm of Gopher basketball in just over five seasons. He became just the ninth coach in program history to reach the mark. Pitino is the youngest Power Five coach with 100+ wins at one school, and the third youngest nationally with 100 wins at one school.
• Earlier this month, senior forward Jordan Murphy became the 11th player in Big Ten history with 1,400+ points and 1,000+ career rebounds. Additionally, Murphy broke Jim Brewer's 45-year old school record when he scored 18 points and 13 rebounds against Nebraska for his 52nd career double-double. Murphy leads the nation in rebounding (12.9) and is second in double-doubles (nine) this season, as of Dec. 26. He is also seventh in free throw attempts (101) and 21st in free throws made (69).
• Freshman Daniel Oturu has posted three straight double-doubles, including a career-high 20 points to go with 11 rebounds vs. the Aggies last time out. Oturu has eight games this season with eight or more rebounds, and it was his sixth game in double‐figures for points. Oturu is leading the team and ranks third in the Big Ten blocking two shots per contest. For his efforts vs. N.C. A&T, Oturu was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Dec. 24, his first weekly honor and the second freshman of the week award for the Gophers this year(Gabe Kalscheur - Nov. 26).
• The Gophers are looking to close out non-conference play with a victory to finish the slate 10-1. It would be the second time under Pitino that Minnesota has finished with just one loss in non-conference play. Included in that total are four wins over Power Five opponents (Utah. Texas A&M, Washington, Oklahoma State).
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
• Mount St. Mary's comes to Minneapolis for the second time in three years, sporting a 3-9 record under first-year head coach Dan Englestad.
• The Mountaineers have won three straight after beginning the season 0-9, including losses to two common opponents of the Gophers: Maryland (77-92) and North Carolina A&T (60-74) in mid-November.
• Two Mount players average double figures, led by Jalen Gibbs who scores 16.1 pounts per game, ranking seventh in the Northeast Conference. Vado Morse adds 10.9 points per contest. Malik Jefferson is fourth in the NEC and leads the Mount with 7.5 rebounds per game.
GOPHERS VS. THE NORTHEAST
• Minnesota has amassed a record of 9-0 against the current membership of the Northeast Conference.
• That total includes the following individual opponent records: Central Connecticut State (0-0), Fairleigh Dickinson (1-0), LIU Brooklyn (3-0), Mount St. Mary's (2-0), Robert Morris (1-0), Sacred Heart (1-0), St. Francis (Pa.) (1-0). Several games against NEC schools were later vacated.
• Head coach Richard Pitino is facing an NEC opponent for the third time Sunday afternoon.

• Big Ten Network and KFAN 100.3 FM will carry the broadcast of the game from Madison.
