Minnesota in 13th After Day One at Schenkel Invite

Minneapolis -- After one round of play, the University of Minnesota men's golf team is in 13th place at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.. Thomas Longbella leads the team with an even 72 through 18 holes.
The Golden Gophers scored a 296, finishing +8 on the day. Sitting In 13th, they are two shots back of Iowa, which recorded a 294. Vanderbilt leads the tournament after carding a 14-under 274.
Longbella finished first among the Gophers, going even par through the first round. He had two birdies in the round, shooting for par on 14 holes, including 8 pars on the back nine.
Angus Flanagan scored a two-over 74 in the first round, going -1 on the back nine. He is currently tied for 50th.
Riley Johnson shot a 75 on the day, going +3. He is tied for 58th place. Rúnar Arnórsson is also tied for 58th after a three-over 75. He hit nine straight pars to finish out his round. Charlie Duensing shot a 78, tying for 76th.
Theo Humphrey of Vanderbilt leads all individuals with a six-under 66 on the first day of competition.
The Gophers will tee off for day two of the Schenkel Invitational at 8 a.m. CDT on Saturday morning.
