Gophers Earn Two First-Place Finishes on Day Two

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Gopher Rowing team earned a pair of first-place finishes to cap off the weekend at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Louisville on Melton Lake.
Minnesota's Varsity 8 teams each picked up a victory in their races during Sunday's morning session. The Gophers ran 6:10.765 in the 1v8 with Anna Stockstad (cox), Kortney Luedloff, Bee Lovick, Lauren Miller, Allison Sterneman, Addie Morris, Lauren Burrows Cheng, Sara Nelson, and Sarah Reimann, edging out the host Cardinals who ran 6:12.933. The Maroon & Gold also earned a win in the 2v8 with Elyse Terlion (cox), Sarah Von der Goltz, Maura Dahl, Abby Rieser, Christina Anderson, Kat Hetico, Katie VanCamp, Darcy Jennings, and Emily Appold at 6:17.921, again besting Louisville's 6:19.613 finish.
The Gophers finished second in the 1v4 with Anna Frazier (cox), Lizsy Hiebel, Allie Schmidt, Natalie Stratton, and Maura Maguire, as Louisville ran 6:56.368 to their 6:59.088. Notre Dame edged Minnesota by just 0.7 seconds in the Novice 8. The Gophers 1n8 team finished at 6:33.960 for second and while the 2n8 boat finished 6:43.860.
Minnesota's 2v4 team of Gabrielle Tripps (cox), Savannah Spahr, Taylor Gilbertson, Samantha Rollay, and Maggie Bostwick finished fourth in its race with a time of 7:11.800. Notre Dame finished first at 7:02.212.
The Gophers will next hit the water for the Doc Hosea Invitational in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on Sunday, April 1.
