Gophers Garner Seven Titles at St. Thomas

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota men's track & field team claimed seven event titles on Thursday evening at St. Thomas' Tom Cat Twilight. The Gophers dominated the field events with five wins while adding two on the track.
Inside the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex, John Uchytil set a new outdoor personal record of 4.85 meters (15-11.00 ft.) to win the pole vault, and Ben Gucinski matched his outdoor personal record of 2.01 meters (6-07.00 ft.) to win the high jump while Jacob Buller finished second at 1.96 meters (6-05.00 ft.). James Travis added a win in the triple jump at 14.58 meters (47-10.00 ft.). Defending Tom Cat Twilight pole vault champion Glen Harold came in third at 4.85 meters (15-11.00 ft.) while unattached freshman Mike Herauf finished fourth at 4.55 meters (14-11.00 ft.).
Mason Roomes won the lone jumps event held outside at O'Shauhnessy Stadium, taking the long jump crown at 6.81 meters (22-04.25 ft.). Jonathan Johnson finished fourth at 6.52 meters (22-04.75 ft.).
On the track, the Gophers claimed the top-two finishers in the 110-meter hurdles with Teddy Fridy claiming first at 14.41, and Jon Tollefson coming in second at 14.83.
The Maroon & Gold added a pair of event titles from unattached freshmen on Thursday with Kaleb Siekmeier winning the discus (held at Hamline's Klas Stadium) at 52.14 meters (171-01 ft.) while Grant Fuller and Collin Sieffert finished first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles. Fuller clocked a 54.83 while Sieffert came across the line at 55.15. Siekmeier also added a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw at 45.52 meters (149-04 ft.) while Connor Rousemiller was the runner-up at 56.02 meters (183-09 ft.).
Meanwhile, unattached runner Cory Mensah was the runner-up in the 100 meters (10.97), Shane Streich finished fourth in the 400 meters (49.88) followed by Matt Rosen in sixth (50.14), Alex Kelner finished eighth in the 200 meters (23.25) and unattached freshman Patrick Roos was 10th in the 5,000 meters (15:41.03).
Owen Hoeft led a group of five Gophers in the top-nine of the 1,500 meters. Hoeft was the runner-up (3:51.95) while Jack Manderscheid followed in third (3:53.81), Nick Rink was sixth (3:58.87), Alex Plasencia came in seventh (3:58.91) and unattached freshman Joe Morrison was ninth (4:02.43).
Josh Tracy's third-place finish (1:54.02) in the 800 meters led a pack of four Gophers among the top nine. Sam Carlson was sixth (1:55.95), Hunter Staack came in seventh (1:56.00) and Jordan MacIntosh was ninth (1:57.16).
