Gophers Win Two Titles at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Molly Eastman and Delaney FitzPatrick won titles as members of the Gopher women's track & field team competed at the Hamline Women's Twilight meet on Wednesday night.
Eastman led the field in the 5,000m, winning in a career-best time of 17:12.45 and leading five Gophers in the top five. Meanwhile, FitzPatrick took home the top spot in the 800m in 2:15.54 and led five Gophers in the top seven.
Minnesota competed in five events during the local meet with many Gophers, both attached and unattached, making their 2018 outdoor debuts as the Maroon & Gold had competitors in the 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, and hammer throw.
Other top finishes for the Gophers saw Allison Dugan finish third in the 400m and Kelsey Sather take third in the 800m. Anastasia Korzenowski was runner-up in the 1,500m while racing unattached, and fellow unattached runners Olivia Hummel (second) and Jaycie Thomsen (third) rounded out the top three in the 5,000m behind Eastman.
In the field events, Tess Keyzers and Erin Dunning competed unattached in the hammer throw, finishing second and third, respectively.
The Gophers resume the outdoor slate by splitting the squad at four meets on Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21. The team will compete the Brian Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific in Azusa, Calif., Mt. SAC Relays at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif., Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State in Long Beach, Calif., and the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul in St. Paul, Minn.
