Gophers Finish Tenth at Clemson Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. ââ'¬" The Gopher Rowing team wrapped up its stay at the Clemson Invitational on Lake Hartwell on Saturday.
No. 4 Ohio State was crowned the team champion at the event with a total of 130 points in the 1v8, 2v8, and 1v4. Minnesota finished 10th with 71 points.
Minnesota's 1v8 team, consisting of coxswain Anna Stockstad, Kortney Luedloff, Bee Lovick, Rylie Wargo, Lauren Miller, Allison Sterneman, Addie Morris, Lauren Burrows-Cheng, and Sara Nelson, claimed a pair of fourth-place finishes in the qualifying heats. The Gophers qualified for the "B" final, finishing sixth with a time of 6:26.16. Oregon State (R.V.) claimed first in the B final with a time of 6:19.40.
The 2v8 boat, with coxswain Elyse Terlion, Sarah Von der Goltz, Maura Dahl, Kat Hetico, Christina Anderson, Abby Rieser, Emily Appold, Darcy Jennings, and Sarah Reimann, claimed a third place finish in Saturday's second session, qualifying for the "B" final as well. Minnesota finished second at 6:10.78, just behind first-place No. 18 Syracuse, which finished at 6:06.83. All of the "B" final teams finished ahead of the times for the teams in the "A" final and the "C" final.
The Gophers 1v4 crew of coxswain Anna Frazier, Savannah Spahr, Allie Schmidt, Katie VanCamp, and Natalie Stratton finished second in Saturday's second session and qualified for the "B" final as well. Minnesota finished third with a time of 7:15.09. Louisville (R.V.) finished first with a time of 7:10.13 in the B final.
The Gophers novice 8 finished third in the second session on Saturday after a second-place finish on Friday evening in the 3v8 race. The Maroon & Gold qualified for the "A" final, finishing with the third-best time overall at 6:36.78. Ohio State's novice 8 claimed top honors with a time of 6:32.35.
