Evanston, Ill. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team (13-10, 5-4 Big Ten) took on the No. 12 ranked Northwestern Wildcats (17-4, 10-0) on the road and fell by a score of 6-1.
"We started slow today, we gave ourselves a chance in doubles late, but couldn't dig ourselves out," Head Coach Catrina Thompson said. "We will have to regroup and get ready for the final weekend of the regular season next weekend."
The Gophers made a run in the doubles competition after falling behind 4-0 in all of the three matches. Tina Kreinis and Annemarie Emme combined to come back against the No. 25 ranked doubles team in the country and tied the match at 5-5 before it was suspended due to the doubles point being completed. In singles, Cammy Frei was the only Gopher to pick up a win for Minnesota in straight sets.
