Gophers Hold Steady at Big Ten Championship

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's golf team sits alone in 12th place after the second day of the Big Ten Championship at the Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, Md. Senior Runar Arnorsson leads the team as he sits in a tie for 36th place.
After tying for 12th after the first round, the Golden Gophers shot a 292 in the second round to bring their total score to 591. Going +13 on the day, the team is two shots ahead of Rutgers, and is nine shots back from Nebraska in 11th. Illinois went 12-under and has a two round score of 549 to overtake Ohio State for the tournament lead.
Arnorsson went two-under in the second round, putting up a score of 68. He had four birdies--the most on the team, and enough to improve significantly on yesterday's tie for 56th. He was the only Gopher to shoot at or under par in the second round.
Senior Riley Johnson carded a three-over 73, bringing him to +6 overall. He is now in a tie for 43rd. Freshman Evan Long scored a 77 in the second round, putting him in a tie for 52nd at 10 over par.
Sophomore Thomas Longbella went six-over with a round of 76 and sits in a tie for 63rd. Freshman Angus Flanagan scored a 75 in the second round, putting him at +5 for the day. He is in 67th place.
Cole Miller of Penn State leads the individual competition. With a round of 65 on the second day, he is now 7 under par, with a two-round score of 133.
The final round will tee-off at 7 a.m. CT, with the Golden Gophers beginning at 8:25 a.m. CT
