MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's track & field program returns to action this weekend, competing at the 2018 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bloomington, Ind. The three-day meet kicks off Friday, May 11 and condludes Sunday, May 13. Indiana hosts this year's competition at Haugh Track & Field Complex.

Fans can follow the Maroon & Gold at the 2018 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships in a number of ways including live streams from FloTrack and BTNPlus. The Big Ten Network will also air tape delay coverage of the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Indiana on Wednesday, May 16, at 6 p.m. CT.

Ali Heads Into Homestretch Hot
All-American Obsa Ali ranks among the top Big Ten competitors in both the 5,000 meters (first in the Big Ten) and the 3,000 meter steeplechase (second in the Big Ten). Ali scored a combined 12 points in the two events at last year's Big Ten meet including a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. 

Six Gophers Earn All-America at NCAA Indoors

The University of Minnesota sent six competitors to the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with all six bringing home Second Team All-America accolades. Teddy Frid led the way with a 10th-place finish in the heptathlon while Ryan Lockard earned his second career All-America nod with a 12th-place showing in the high jump. The Gophers closed out the meet with a 12th-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with Matthew Baker, Jonathan Webb and Ben Psicihulis earning their first career All-America nods while Jackson Wellenstein earned his third career accolade.

Lucas Reps 'U' at NACAC Championshipp
Minnesota freshman Hunter Lucas finished 22nd in the Men's U20 eight-kilometer race at the 2018 NACAC Cross Country Championships last weekend in El Salvador. Lucas clocked a time of 27:08.0 after qualifying for the race with a fourth-place finish in the Junior Men's 8K at the USA Cross Country Championships. The Gophers have now been represented at two-straight NACAC Cross Country Championships with Nick Rink finishing eighth last year in Boca Raton, Fla., as the U.S. Under-20 Men's Team claimed a gold medal. 

'U' Breaks Ground on T&F Facility 
The University of Minnesota officially broke ground on a new outdoor track & field venue on Friday, Oct. 20. The new stadium will feature a nine-lane track with three chutes, full field event hosting capabilities, and a design to allow sprints and certain field events to be held in multiple directions to take advantage of wind conditions on competition days. These features, along with permanent and event-based seating, provide the flexibility and the amenities to host a wide variety of meets.
