The University of Minnesota set a new team record for number of Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-America awards with over half the team earning the honor.

Nine Gophers: Abby DeMuse, Lexy Ramler, Hannah Hitchcock, Ivy Lu, Julia Huebert, Ona Loper, Rachel Cutler, Rachel Rowland and Becca Taylor all earned the honor for maintaining a GPA over 3.50.

"We are so proud of our team's commitment to achieving their best in the classroom," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "The University of Minnesota is an incredible institution and to have a record nine athletes receive Scholastic All-America honors speaks to this team's pursuit of excellence."

It's been a strong year in the classroom for the women's gymnastics program. Cutler, DeMuse, Hitchcock and Rowland all earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Awards which was also a record number for the team. The Gophers also finished ranked third in the Big Ten for overall GPA by a women's gymnastics team. The University of Minnesota athletic department as a whole tied their highest cumulative GPA in 2017-18 with a 3.24.
