The effervescent Gopher coach certainly has a flair for the dramatic when it comes to scholarship surprises, but he also ensures that the moment is one that memorable for the individual receiving the scholarship.Â
Since Fleck was hired on Jan. 6, 2017, he has awarded 6 scholarships to walk-ons, with the most recent being to linebacker Bailey Schoenfelder last night at TCF Bank Stadium. Schoenfelder was awarded a scholarship after two Navy Seals parachuted onto the field and delivered a letter to Fleck.Â
In addition to Schoenfelder, Fleck had previously given scholarships to walk-ons Sam Renner, Blake Cashman, Emmit Carpenter, Justin Juenemann, and Conor Rhoda.Â
