Khoury Earns Spot on Official Roster
9/20/2018 9:59:00 AM | Men's Gymnastics
The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team has moved George Khoury to the official roster for the 2018-19 season, head coach Mike Burns announced.
Khoury has been a manager on the team for the past three seasons. He worked behind the camera putting together team film and highlight packages. He also assisted with recruiting visits and could always be seen in the gym doing whatever the team needed from him to provide the most efficient practices. Khoury has spent the past three years training on his own in hopes of one day earning a spot on the team roster.
"George has been an integral part of our program for three years as a team manager," Burns said. "It was a great moment when we announced George will be on the roster for his final year of school. This young man has an uncanny work ethic and his dogged determination will serve him well this year and many years to come."
Prior to Minnesota Khoury competed for Classic Gymnastics. The Woodbury, Minn. native was a regional qualifier from 2008-15 and was an honor roll student for four years at Hill-Murray High School.
"Growing up I did gymnastics, but never had any major accomplishments," Khoury said. "I always had a dream of competing as a gopher, so a lot of work went into making this dream come true. I am proud to become the first member of my family to be a (Division I) collegiate athlete."
Khoury is expected to graduate from Minnesota in May of 2019 with a degree in Biology.
