Freshman Spotlight: Kaitlyn Higgins

We continue our freshman spotlight series by introducing you to Kaitlyn Higgins. The Walworth, Wis., native competed for the Gymnastics Academy of Rockford. She finished as high as third place in the all-around at Level 10 Regionals and is a former Level 9 Eastern National Gymnastics All-Around Champion. She has career highs of 9.675 on floor, 9.700 on vault and 37.875 in the all-around.
Gopher Sports: What brought you to Minnesota?
Kaitlyn Higgins: I came to the University of Minnesota because it was the only campus I visited where I felt at home.
GS: What are you most looking forward to in your first school year and season?
KH: I am most looking forward to taking higher level classes and making new friends within and out of the gymnastics team.
GS: What has it been like to meet your teammates? Who is the funniest teammate so far?
KH: It has been super fun meeting my teammates. I already feel like I have known them for years because we have bonded so well. Paige Williams is the funniest teammate because she always makes me laugh.
GS: What is your favorite gymnastics event?
KH: My favorite event is floor because I love to tumble.
GS: Favorite gymnastics memory so far?
KH: My favorite gymnastics memory so far is coming the University of Minnesota and finally being a part of the team.
GS: What is one thing Gopher fans should know about you?
KH: One thing gopher fans should know about me is that I am allergic to gluten.
