The University of Minnesota kicked off another season of Women Invested in Leadership and Learning, Sept. 16, 2019 at TCF Bank Stadium. W.I.L.L., is in its sixth year and continues to build in each year of its existence.
University of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics partnered with Schwan's Company in 2014 with 25 female student-athletes (soccer). The program has grown, and this year we will be supporting the personal and professional development of more than 150 female student-athletes from the soccer, gymnastics, cross-country, track & field, hockey, golf, Tennis, basketball, rowing, volleyball, and softball.
The program has several components:
• A total of 13 90-minute interactive, facilitator-led events over a period of 4 years
• A mentor will be available to you in and outside of the sessions
• Tools for coaches to support the learning
• Alumni engagement at each event
Professional mentors attend each event and sit at designated tables. They share stories of their own professional and life experiences to support the session content. There's even opportunities where Minnesota mentors are available outside the sessions to meet one-on-one or to answer additional questions on leadership and professional development.
In this first session, Big Ten Network joined Gopher Athletics for an inside look at W.I.L.L. Take a look!
