Gophers Move Up on Second Day of Princess Anne

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Lower scores all around helped the Minnesota women's golf team move up one spot on the team leaderboard after the second round of the Princess Anne Invitational Saturday.
At the par-70 Princess Anne Country Club, the Gophers (302-295—597) shaved seven strokes off their team score to move into 14th place.
Junior Joanne Free matched her first-round score to move up to a tie for 22nd place at 4-over par (72-72—144), again posting the low Gopher round of the day. Classmate Kate Lillie also showed improvement Saturday (75-74—149), as she is tied for 49th place. Freshman Grace Curran (77-75—152) and sophomore Karen Zhang (78-74—152) are tied for 59th, while junior Grace Kellar (84-75—159) is in 82nd place.
Virginia Tech (276-281—557) maintained its team lead, while Ingrid Lindblad (67-68—135) of LSU holds a one-shot lead entering the final round.
The Princess Anne Invitational concludes Sunday morning, with third-round tee times set for 8:00 a.m. ET.
