MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota men's hockey program skated to a 2-2 overtime tie with Mount Royal on Sunday night in exhibition action at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
Sophomore forwards Sammy Walker and Blake McLaughlin tallied goals for the Maroon & Gold.

Mount Royal pocketed a pair of even-strength goals in the second period with Hunter Zandee finding the net at 9:29 and Brad Kennedy scoring at 12:23.
Minnesota took advantage of a five-minute advantage early in the third period to tie things up when Sampo Ranta and Jonny Sorenson fed McLaughlin for his second point of the night at 3:03. Neither team was able to break the tie including a five-minute overtime session.
The Gophers used all three goaltenders in the overtime tie with Jack LaFontaine making six saves on six shots in the first period, Jared Moe making seven saves on nine shots in the second and Justen Close totaling 13 saves on 13 shots in the third period and in overtime.
