University of Minnesota head rowing coach Alicea Strodel has announced the signing of two student-athletes. Anna Hanson and Adelaide Hazen will join the Maroon and Gold next fall.

"Our team and staff are thrilled to welcome Anna and Adelaide to Minnesota," Strodel said. "The U is a great fit for them both academically and athletically. It was obvious that both women believe in our culture and vision. They are excited to be part of the building process and I think they can have big impacts. We are glad they are Gophers."

Anna Hanson - Woodrow Wilson High School - Rose City Rowing Club
Hansen, a native of Portland, Oregon, was a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in rowing, academics and 4-H. She participated in the US Rowing Under-18 High Performance camp and set a new PR in the 2k with a time of 7:11.9. Hansen is highly involved in 4-H, showing and breeding rabbits for eight years. She earned a Blue Ribbon at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Convention and was a three-time Master Showman at the Multnomah County Fair.

Adelaide Hazen - Madison Country Day School - Camp Randall Rowing Club
Hazen hails from Madison, Wisconsin and attends Madison Country Day school. She competed at the 2019 Head of the Charles Regatta in the Women's Junior Youth Fours event and coxed her boat to a 15th place finish. She was listed on either the Honor Roll (GPA over 3.75) or Heads List (GPA over 3.85) throughout high school. Hazen enjoys volunteering with local conservation-oriented organizations and learning about the natural world. She was awarded the Clean Lakes Alliance "Lake Leader" award after being their youngest volunteer and spending five years with them.
