The Minnesota women's squad is one of 31 teams headed to the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championship next Saturday.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 26 University of Minnesota women's cross country team has received an at-large berth to the 2019 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship, the NCAA announced Saturday during its selection show. Minnesota is one of 13 teams selected for an at-large bid after the Gophers finished third at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday.

The Gopher women return to the national championship for the 14th time in the last 15 years after finishing 29th last season. Joining the Gopher women at the NCAA Championships is redshirt junior Alec Basten, who will represent the Gopher men at the national meet after he secured an individual automatic berth with a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's 6K race will begin at 10:15 a.m. CT with the men's 10K scheduled for 11:15 a.m. CT. Live coverage of the 2019 championships will be provided by FloTrack.

Behind all-region performances from Anastasia Korzenowski (ninth), Abby Kohut-Jackson (13th), and Sarah Werking (24th), the Gopher women scored 130 points in the team race to secure a third-place finish at Friday's NCAA Midwest Regional. Lindsey Greenlund (41st) and Carissa Dock (43rd) rounded out Minnesota's top five.

Thirty-one teams were selected to participate in the 2019 NCAA Championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the nine regions, for a total of 18 teams. Thirteen additional teams were selected at-large. Champion Illinois and runner-up Tulsa earned the automatic bids from the Gophers' Midwest Regional.

Minnesota joins Air Force, Boise State, Boston College, Colorado, Columbia, Indiana, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin to make up the at-large women's team qualifiers.

The Gopher women have made 24 team appearances at the NCAA Championship since 1974. The program's highest team finish came in 2005 when the Gophers placed ninth. All-Americans Ladia Albertson-Junkans and Emily Brown led Minnesota's efforts. The ninth-place showing was the first of five-straight top-12 finishes for the Gophers. The Gophers' most recent All-American is Stephanie Price, who finished 31st in 2010. Minnesota's all-time highest individual finisher at the NCAA championships is Megan Duwell, who took eighth overall in 2009.
