DULUTH, Minn. -- The top-ranked Golden Gopher women's hockey team and No. 10 Minnesota Duluth skated to a 2-2 overtime tie in game one of this weekend's WCHA series on the road in Duluth, Minn., on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs picked up an extra point in the league standings with a goal in the three-on-three overtime session.
Minnesota (12-1-2, 8-1-2-1 WCHA) received goals from Emily Oden and Alex Woken in regulation and Sydney Scobee made 33 saves on 35 shots faced. The Gophers trailed 35-33 in shots on goal for the game.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Gophers and Bulldogs each struck twice in the middle period. The Bulldogs responded just 39 seconds later with a goal by Sydney Brodt, but Woken tied the game for the Gophers on a 2-on-0 rush with Amy Potomak with just 1:37 remaining in the second.
Minnesota Duluth (7-4-2, 4-3-2-1 WCHA) was led by Maddie Rooney's 31-save effort in net and got goals from Anna Klein and Brodt.

"It was a really good hockey game here tonight," head coach Brad Frost said. "Two very good teams just laying it on the line -- I thought both goaltenders were tremendous. Our team got better as the game went on. We had some great chances at the end of the third and in both overtimes. Unfortunately, we didn't get that extra point, but all-in-all, a real good effort and we'll get back at it again tomorrow."
