DULUTH, Minn. -- Catie Skaja scored two goals to lead the top-ranked Golden Gopher women's hockey team to a 4-3 win over No. 10 Minnesota Duluth at AMSOIL Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The teams combined for five goals in the second period after Minnesota (13-1-2, 9-1-2-1 WCHA) took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on a goal from Sarah Potomak. Skaja doubled the Gophers' lead just 2:20 into the middle frame before Minnesota Duluth evened the score at 2-2 with a pair of goals from Anneke Linser and Sydney Brodt in a 2:47 span of the second period.
Skaja regained the lead for the Maroon & Gold when she netted her second of the game, cleaning up a rebound off a shot by Emily Oden at the 13:27 mark, and Grace Zumwinkle fired a rocket from the slot to put the Gophers up by two with 3:22 remaining in the second. Minnesota Duluth (7-5-2, 4-4-2-1 WCHA) made it a one-goal game with a tally by Ashton Bell with less than one minute remaining, but the Gophers took home the 4-3 win.
Sydney Scobee made 32 saves on 35 shots faced. The Gophers were outshot for the second-straight game as UMD had a 35-28 advantage, and Maddie Rooney finished with 24 saves for the Bulldogs.

"Another great battle between two top-10 teams," head coach Brad Frost said. "I'm really proud of how our team responded here today. We got to the net a little better and defended a little better. Overall it was a really good weekend, a tough weekend, on the road against a good Duluth team. We're happy with the win here tonight, and we're looking forward to getting off to Nashville next week."
