Gopher Sports: How has your time on campus and the team been so far?
Andrew Hyde: I've had a really good time being on campus with the team so far this year. It's been really fun working out with the guys, and I've enjoyed exploring the campus.
GS: What are you most looking forward to in your first school year and season?
AH: I'm just trying to get a solid start in the classroom for my next couple of years, but I can't wait for season to be here. It's going to be a fun year with these guys and I'm ready to get back out on the competition floor.
GS: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
AH: Growing up in the Twin Cities, I'd always watched Gopher Gymnastics. It had been a dream of mine for a long time to be on the gymnastics team here, and now I get to live it out. I also like how it's close to home, so there isn't a huge change there.
GS: How did you get into gymnastics?
AH: My parents just happened to sign me up for classes, and I loved it right away. Gymnastics was the one sport I was always excited for as a kid. I was always looking forward to practices and I loved getting better.
GS: What is your favorite gymnastics memory?
AH: My favorite memory was my last nationals in my senior year. It was probably the most fun I've ever had at a competition.
GS: What are your hobbies outside of gymnastics?
AH: I'm really into music, and I love spending time with my friends outside the gym.
GS: What is one thing Gopher fans should know about you?
AH: I love to joke around (I'm still not as funny as Henry, though).
