Gophers Move Up on Final Day of Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - Sophomore Kate Lillie and senior Muyu Wu each fired among the lowest rounds of the day on Tuesday, helping lead the Minnesota women's golf team to move two spots up as The Gold Rush concluded at Old Ranch Country Club.

Lillie (78-75-71—224) and Wu (80-74-71—225) tied for 24th and 30th place, respectively after their 1-under par final rounds which were one stroke off Tuesday's best.

Sophomore Joanne Free tied for 44th place at 12-over (81-75-72—228) after an even-par round Tuesday. Classmate Grace Kellar tied for 57th (78-79-76—233) while freshman Karen Zhang finished in a tie for 64th (82-74-79—235).

Minnesota (317-298-290—905) concluded the tournament tied for 11th place with Santa Clara, carding its lowest team round of the tournament in Tuesday. San Jose State (288-290-295—873) claimed the team title while SJSU teammates Abegail Arevalo and Natasha Andrea Oon shared medalist honors with a total score of 214.

The Gophers are idle for three weeks before returning to California to take part in the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate, being contested from March 17-19 in Fairfax, Calif.
