Future Gophers Earn High School Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – A pair of signed Gopher Hockey prospects were honored with Minnesota boys' high school hockey honors over the last week as Bryce Brodzinski was honored with the Mr. Hockey Award and Mike Koster was selected as the Reed Larson Award recipient.
The Mr. Hockey Award recognizes the outstanding senior boys' high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota while the Reed Larson Award is presented to the top senior boys' high school defenseman in Minnesota.
A native of Blaine, Minn., Brodzinski tallied 36 goals and 55 assists in his final prep season at Blaine High School. The forward and senior captain led the Bengals to a third-place finish at the MSHSL Class AA state tournament this season. Brodzinski is the 35th recipient of the Mr. Hockey Award and the 24th Gopher Hockey prospect to earn the honor.
A native of Chaska, Minn., Koster led the state in scoring by a defenseman with 20 goals and 41 assists for Chaska High School. A two-year captain for the Hawks, he was also a finalist for this year's Mr. Hockey Award. Koster is the seventh recipient of the Reed Larson Award, named for 'U' alum and U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Reed Larson, and the second Gopher Hockey prospect to earn the honor.
Additionally, Gopher Hockey All-American alum and former coach Doug Woog was honored with the Mr. Hockey Ambassador Award on Sunday.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday, March 16 at 6 p.m. CT with a Big Ten Tournament semifinal matchup at Notre Dame on Big Ten Network.
